Private In-Home
Respite Care

St. Petersburg, Florida
"For the caregiver who needs to breathe — we arrive so you can step away without guilt, and return without worry."

Caring for someone with dementia is extraordinary work. It also asks more than any one person should carry without relief.

Private respite care exists so that you can step away — to rest, to attend to your own life, to simply exhale — without leaving your loved one in the care of a stranger. Avelis caregivers arrive prepared, calm, and already familiar with what matters to the person in your home.

This is not coverage. It is a considered handoff — from one trusted presence to another.

Respite care through Avelis is arranged around your schedule, not ours. Whether you need a few hours on a Tuesday morning or a recurring block of time each week, we structure support around what actually works for your family.

Before care begins, your caregiver is briefed on your loved one's preferences, routine, sensitivities, and what a good day looks like for them. We do not send someone in cold.

And wherever possible, the same caregiver returns each time — because familiarity is not a luxury in dementia care. It is the standard.

Care that holds while you step away.

i.
A Thorough Introduction
Your caregiver meets your loved one before the first solo visit. We never send someone unfamiliar without preparation and a proper handoff from you.
ii.
Routine Held with Care
We follow the rhythms that already exist in your home — meals, rest, activity, preference. Disruption is the enemy of comfort in dementia care, and we treat it accordingly.
iii.
Calm, Capable Presence
Our caregivers are selected for composure. If something shifts during your absence, they are trained to respond without alarm — and to keep you informed without unnecessary worry.
iv.
A Clear Handback
When you return, your caregiver gives you a brief, honest account of how the visit went — what was good, what was difficult, and anything worth noting going forward.

You don't have to
be at the limit
to ask for help.

Respite care is for any family caregiver who carries consistent responsibility for someone living with dementia — regardless of whether you feel you've "earned" a break. You have.

  • Spouses and partners who are the primary caregiver at home
  • Adult children managing care alongside their own families and careers
  • Families transitioning from facility care back to home care
  • Caregivers who need consistent weekly time to restore themselves
  • Families navigating a change in condition who need additional support
  • Anyone who simply needs a few reliable hours of calm, covered absence

Straightforward.
No surprises.

Respite care is priced by the hour, with a minimum shift length to ensure meaningful, unrushed time for your loved one. Rates reflect the experience level of your matched caregiver.
