"Most agencies treat caregivers as interchangeable. We were built on the opposite belief."

The caregiver
is the care.

At Avelis, we believe the quality of care someone receives depends almost entirely on the person providing it. Not the agency. Not the schedule. The person.

i.
You Are Introduced, Not Assigned
We match independent caregivers with families based on personality, experience, and fit — not who's available Thursday.
ii.
Your Relationships Are Protected
We prioritize long-term caregiver continuity with the same families — because familiarity is the foundation of real care.
iii.
Your Work Has a Name
You are not a roster entry. We know who you are, what you bring, and what kind of work you do best. That shapes every introduction we make.

Not every
caregiver.
The right ones.

We are selective — not to be exclusive, but because the families in our network are trusting us with something irreplaceable. We look for people who already carry this work with intention.

  • Dementia or Alzheimer's experienceYou have worked with people living with cognitive change — and you understand that patience is not a technique. It's a disposition.
  • Composure in difficult momentsYou can stay grounded when things shift — sundowning, resistance, confusion — without escalating, alarming, or withdrawing.
  • Genuine warmthNot performed kindness. Real curiosity about the people in your care — their history, their preferences, who they are.
  • ReliabilityIf you accept an introduction and commit to a family, you show up. Consistently. On time. The same way every visit.
  • HHA or CNA preferredSubstantial lived experience without formal certification will also be considered. What matters most is how you work.
  • Reliable transportationClients are located in and around the greater St. Petersburg area.

This work is
specialized.
We treat it that way.

The caregivers in the Avelis network are introduced specifically to families navigating dementia. That focus is intentional — and it shapes everything about how we operate.

If you have genuine dementia experience, you are compensated at the higher end of our range. Because that skill is rare. And rare things have value.

"The families we serve are in one of the hardest chapters of their lives. The presence you bring is not a small thing."
01
Meeting People Where They Are
Dementia care means entering someone's world — without correction, without urgency. You follow their lead. You honor their reality.
02
Calm as a Practice
A regulated caregiver regulates the person they're with. Your steadiness is not incidental to the care — it is the care.
03
Familiarity as Medicine
Routine, consistency, and a familiar face reduce anxiety for people with dementia more reliably than almost anything else. Your presence — showing up the same way, every time — is genuinely therapeutic.
04
Emotional Memory
A person may not remember your name. They will remember how you made them feel. Show up with warmth, every time — it lands, even when nothing else does.

Built differently.
On purpose.

This is not a platform. It is not a staffing board. It is a small, deliberate network — and every caregiver introduced through it is known by name.

01
Introduced,
not dispatched.
We learn who you are before introducing you to any family. The match is based on personality, experience, and fit — not a calendar.
02
Same clients.
Whenever possible.
We prioritize caregiver continuity with the same families. Long-term relationships protect the people in your care — and protect your sense of purpose in this work.
03
Someone answers
when you call.
No ticketing system. No inbox queue. When something comes up — a family dynamic, a shift in a client's condition — you reach a real person who knows your name.
04
Pay that reflects
what you bring.
$20–$26/hr based on experience. Dementia-specialized caregivers are paid at a premium — because that skill is rare and we know it.
05
Flexible on
your terms.
As an independent contractor, you work on your schedule. We introduce families whose needs fit your availability — not the other way around.
06
Work that
means something.
The relief you bring to a family navigating dementia is measurable and real. We will remind you of that — because it matters, and caregivers rarely hear it enough.

Your schedule.
Your choices.

Caregivers in the Avelis network are independent contractors — not employees. That means flexibility, autonomy, and work that fits around your life.

We introduce you to families whose needs align with your availability. You accept the introductions that work for you. You set the pace.

the start.

Apply & Be Introduced
Submit your application. We read it personally. If there's a fit, we reach out to learn more about you before making any introductions.
Complete Onboarding
A 30-minute self-guided orientation that covers the Avelis approach and what families in our network expect. Completed at your own pace online.
Meet the Family First
We introduce you to families whose needs align with how you work. You meet them before any care begins. You decide if the match is right.
Work on Your Schedule
Accept the introductions that fit your availability. Work as much or as little as makes sense for you. We are here when you need us.

Simple standards.
Genuinely held.

We are not heavy on rules. We are serious about a few things — because the families who trust us deserve that. Here is what being part of the Avelis network means in practice.

On independence: Caregivers in the Avelis network are independent contractors. You are not an employee. You set your schedule, accept the introductions you choose, and work with the autonomy that 1099 classification provides.
  • Show up when you commit. Families arrange their lives around these visits — reliability is the foundation of everything.
  • Bring genuine presence — not just physical attendance. The people in your care notice the difference.
  • Keep phone use limited during visits. Your full attention belongs to the person in your care.
  • Communicate promptly. If something shifts — your schedule, a client's condition — let us know quickly.
  • Maintain confidentiality. Everything you learn about a client and their family stays private — including social media.
  • Stay within non-medical scope. No clinical procedures. No medical advice. Observe and report — that is the line.
  • Approach each visit with the same warmth as the first. Familiarity should deepen care, not diminish it.

If this resonates —
we'd be honored to hear from you.

We review every application personally. We are not looking to fill seats — we are looking for people who understand what this work actually asks of them.
